 जैसा कि हम सभी जानते हैं कि दुनिया भर में हनुमान जी की असंख्य विशालकाय प्रतिमाएं हैं। ऊंची से ऊंची हनुमान प्रतिमा बनाने के तो हर 3 वर्षों में रिकॉर्ड टूट जाते हैं। कम से कम 101 फीट से शुरू होने वाली मूर्तियां देशभर में अब असंख्य हो चली हैं। तो आइए जानते हैं इन्हीं में से एक हनुमान प्रतिमा के बारे में-

शिमला के जाखू में स्थित हनुमान मंदिर एक विश्व प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है जहां देश विदेश से लोग दर्शन करने आते हैं मान्यता है कि राम रावण युद्ध के दौरान लक्ष्मण जी के मूर्छित हो जाने पर संजीवनी बूटी लेने के लिए हिमालय की ओर आकाश मार्ग से जाते हुए हनुमान जी की नजर यहां तपस्या कर रहे यक्ष ऋषि पर पड़ी।

बाद में इसका नाम यक्ष ऋषि के नाम पर ही यक्ष से याक, याक से याकू, याकू से जाखू तक बदलता गया. हनुमान जी विश्राम करने और संजीवनी बूटी का परिचय प्राप्त करने के लिए जाखू पर्वत के जिस स्थान पर उतरे, वहां आज भी उनके पद चिह्नों को संगमरमर से बनवा कर रखा गया है.

यक्ष ऋषि से संजीवनी बूटी का परिचय लेने के बाद वापस जाते हुए उन्होंने मिलकर जाने का वचन यक्ष ऋषि को दिया और द्रोण पर्वत की तरफ चल पड़े। मार्ग में कालनेमि नामक राक्षस के कुचक्र में फंसने के कारण समय के अभाव में हनुमान जी छोटे मार्ग से अयोध्या होते हुए चल पड़े। जब वह वापस नहीं लौटे तो यक्ष ऋषि व्याकुल हो गए। हनुमान जी ने उन्हें दर्शन दिया, उसके बाद इस स्थान पर हनुमान जी की स्वयंभू मूर्ति प्रकट हुई. जिसे लेकर यक्ष ऋषि ने यहीं पर हनुमान जी का मंदिर बनवाया। आज यह मूर्ति मंदिर में स्थापित है और दूर-दूर से लोग उनके दर्शन को आते हैं।

यहां आने वाले भक्‍तों का कहना है कि उन्हें यहां आकर सुकून मिलता है, और उनकी मुरादें भी पूरी होती है। यहां जो लोग भी सच्चे मन से आते हैं उन्हें हनुमान जी खाली हाथ नहीं भेजते।

यह मंदिर समुद्र तल से 8048 फीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है।वर्ष 2010 में हिमाचल प्रदेश की राज्य सरकार ने यहां 108 फीट की हनुमान प्रतिमा स्थापित की थी।यह प्रतिमा भारत की दूसरी सबसे ऊंची हनुमान प्रतिमा है।

जाखू मंदिर के प्रांगण में ही हनुमान जी की 108 फीट ऊंची विशाल प्रतिमा स्थापित की गई है जिसे शिमला में कहीं से भी देखा जा सकता है।

Hanuman Temple located in Jakhu, Shimla is a world famous temple where people from all over the country and abroad come to visit. It is believed that Lord Hanuman while going through the sky route towards Himalayas to take Sanjeevani Booti when Lakshman ji fainted during the battle of Rama Ravana. Ji's eyes fell on the Yaksha Rishi doing penance here.

Later its name changed from Yaksha to Yak, Yak to Yaku, Yaku to Jakhu after the name of sage Yaksha. Even today, at the place where Hanuman ji landed on Jakhu mountain to take rest and get the introduction of Sanjeevani Booti, ​​his footprints have been made in marble.

After taking the introduction of the Sanjeevani herb from the Yaksha sage, while going back, he promised to go together to the Yaksha sage and Drona started towards the mountain. Due to being trapped in the vicious circle of a demon named Kalnemi on the way, due to lack of time, Hanuman ji walked through Ayodhya on a short route. When he did not return, the sage Yaksha became distraught. Hanuman ji appeared to him, after that the self-styled idol of Hanuman ji appeared at this place. With which the Yaksha Rishi built a temple of Hanuman ji here. Today this idol is installed in the temple and people from far and wide come to see him.

The devotees who come here say that they get peace by coming here, and their wishes are also fulfilled. Those who come here with a sincere heart, Hanuman ji does not send them empty handed.

This temple is situated at an altitude of 8048 feet above sea level. In the year 2010, the state government of Himachal Pradesh had installed a Hanuman statue of 108 feet here. This statue is the second tallest Hanuman statue in India.
