होलिका दहन 2022

ऋतुराज वसंत में मनाया जाने वाला महत्वपूर्ण पर्व होली का त्यौहार है। यह पर्व हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार फाल्गुन मास की पूर्णिमा को मनाया जाता है।

होली रंगों का तथा हँसी-खुशी का त्योहार है। यह उत्तर भारत का एक प्रमुख और प्रसिद्ध त्योहार है, जो आज लगभग सम्पूर्ण विश्वभर में मनाया जाने लगा है। रंगों का त्यौहार कहा जाने वाला यह पर्व पारंपरिक रूप से दो दिन मनाया जाता है। प्रथम दिन होलिका दहन की परंपरा है। इस दिन होलिका जलायी जाती है।

विष्णु पुराण में होली के संबंध में एक कथा प्रचलित है और यह बताया गया है कि आखिर किस कारण होलिका दहन किया जाता है और होली खेलने का क्या महत्व है।

विष्णु पुराण के अनुसार एक हिरण्यकश्यप नाम का राजा था जिसने भगवान ब्रह्मा को प्रसन्न करके ये वरदान पा लिया था कि न तो उसे कोई स्त्री मार सकती है और न ही कोई पुरुष ,जिसके कारण वो अपने आप को भगवान मानने लगा था ।

कुछ समय बाद हिरण्यकश्यप को एक पुत्र की प्राप्ति होती है जो शुक्ल पक्ष की भांति बढ़ने लगता है लेकिन वह पुत्र विद्या अर्जन करने के समय से ही भगवान विष्णु को अपना देवता मानने लगता है और उनकी पूजा अर्चना करता है। वहीं दूसरी ओर उसका अंहकारी पिता हिरण्यकश्यप अपने पुत्र प्रहलाद को बहुत समझाता है कि वह विष्णु भगवान की पूजा न करे किन्तु वो अपने पिता की बात नहीं मानता। इससे क्रोधित होकर हिरण्यकश्यप प्रहलाद को मारने के कई प्रयत्न करता है किन्तु भगवान विष्णु की कृपा से प्रहलाद का बाल भी बांका नहीं होता है।

तब हिरण्यकश्यप की बहन होलिका जिसे भगवान ब्रह्मा से ये वरदान प्राप्त है कि अग्नि उसे छु भी नहीं पाएगी, वो अपने भाई को ये सुझाव देती है कि फाल्गुन की पूर्णिमा को वह भाई प्रहलाद को अग्नि में लेकर बैठेगी। योजना अनुसार सभी कार्य विधि पूर्वक होता है परन्तु भगवान विष्णु की कृपा से प्रहलाद को अग्नि स्पर्श भी नहीं कर पाती और होलिका का वरदान अभिशाप में बदल जाता है और वो अग्नि में भस्म हो जाती है ।

भगवान विष्णु नरसिंह अवतार लेकर हिरण्यकश्यप का वध करते हैं और तब से भगवान विष्णु के नरसिंह अवतार की पूजा अर्चना की जाती है । तब से ही होलिका दहन की परंपरा है। यह बुराई पर अच्छाई की जीत का संकेत है। जिस दिन होलिका दहन हुआ था उस दिन फाल्गुन माह की पूर्णिमा थी अतः इसी दिन होलिका दहन किया जाता है।

होलिका दहन का यह महत्व है कि यदि इंसान के अंदर मजबूत इच्छा शक्ति हो तो वह अपने अंदर की किसी भी बुराई को समाप्त कर सकता है।

Called the festival of colours, this festival is traditionally celebrated for two days. There is a tradition of Holika Dahan on the first day. Holika is lit on this day.

In Vishnu Purana, a story is prevalent in relation to Holi and it has been told that after all, why Holika Dahan is done and what is the importance of playing Holi.

According to Vishnu Purana, there was a king named Hiranyakashyap, who had pleased Lord Brahma and got the boon that neither a woman nor a man could kill him, due to which he started considering himself as God.

After some time Hiranyakashyap gets a son who starts growing like Shukla Paksha, but from the time of acquiring Vidya, that son considers Lord Vishnu as his deity and worships him. On the other hand, his arrogant father Hiranyakashipu explains a lot to his son Prahlad that he should not worship Lord Vishnu but he does not listen to his father. Enraged by this, Hiranyakashipu makes several attempts to kill Prahlad, but by the grace of Lord Vishnu, even Prahlad's hair does not become frizzy.

Then Holika, the sister of Hiranyakashipu, who has got a boon from Lord Brahma that fire will not touch her, suggests to her brother that on the full moon day of Falgun, she will sit with her brother Prahlad in the fire. All the work is done according to the plan, but by the grace of Lord Vishnu, Prahlad is not even able to touch the fire and Holika's boon turns into a curse and she gets consumed in the fire.

Lord Vishnu kills Hiranyakashipu by taking Narasimha avatar and since then Lord Vishnu's Narasimha avatar is worshipped. Since then there is a tradition of Holika Dahan. It is a sign of victory of good over evil. On the day Holika Dahan took place, it was the full moon of Falgun month, hence Holika Dahan is done on this day.

The significance of Holika Dahan is that if a person has a strong will power, then he can eliminate any evil inside him.
