क्लाइंबिंग पर्च फिश (Climbing Perch Fish) परिवार में लगभग 34 प्रजातियां शामिल हैं। इनके पास एक भूल भुलैया अंग होता है, जिससे इन्हें भूलभुलैया मछली के रूप में जाना जाता है। मछली के सिर में एक संरचना होती है, जिसकी सहायता से ये मछलियां वायुमंडलीय ऑक्सीजन को अवशोषित करने में सक्षम होती हैं। इस परिवार की मछलियां आमतौर पर पानी की सतह पर हवा में सांस लेते हुए देखी गई हैं। भूल भुलैया संरचना जिसे सुपरब्रांचियल कहा जाता है, ऑक्सीजन को रक्त प्रवाह के माध्यम से श्वसन केंद्र तक पहुंचाता है। इसलिए इस प्रजाति की मछलियां जमीन के ऊपर छोटी दूरी तय करने में सक्षम होती हैं।

चढ़ाई करने वाली मछली जिसे गौरामी भी कहते हैं, यह एनाबस टेस्टूडिनीअस परिवार की एक मछली की प्रजाति है। यह मुख्य रूप से मीठे पानी की मछलियां है और बहुत ही कम खारे पानी में पाई जाती हैं। यह मछली एशिया की मूल निवासी है जहां यह भारत से पूर्व में चीन और वालेस लाइन  तक पाई जाती है। यह एक आक्रामक प्रजाति की मछली है, जो बिना पानी के 6 से 10 घंटे तक जीवित रह सकती हैं। यह पूर्वी इंडोनेशिया और पापुआ न्यू गिनी में अपने मूल सीमा के बाहर कुछ देशों में भी पाई गई हैं, और माना जाता है कि आस्ट्रेलिया की तरफ भी इनकी प्रजाति बढ़ रही है। 2005 के अंत में, पापुआ न्यू गिनी के दक्षिण में लगभग 3 से 4 मील दक्षिण में क्वींसलैंड के उत्तर में टोरेस स्र्ट्रेट में साईबाई द्वीप और एक अन्य छोटे ऑस्ट्रेलियाई द्वीप पर मछली की खोज की गई थी।
यह प्रजाति कुल लंबाई में 25 सेंटीमीटर (9.8 इंच) तक बढ़ती हैं।

The climbing fish, also known as the gourami, is a species of fish in the family Anabas testudinius. It is mainly a freshwater fish and rarely found in salt water. This fish is native to Asia where it is found from India east to China and Wallace Lays. It is an aggressive species of fish, which can survive for 6 to 10 hours without water. It has also been found in some countries outside its native range in eastern Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, and is believed to be moving towards Australia. In late 2005, the fish was discovered on Saibai Island and another small Australian island in the Torres Strait, north of Queensland, about 3 to 4 miles south of Papua New Guinea.

This species grows up to 25 centimeters (9.8 in) in total length.

The climbing gourami is so named because of its ability to climb out of water and walk over short distances. Although not reliably observed, some authors have noted that they have the ability to climb trees. Fish push themselves using their fins and tail to propel themselves forward.

This species is used as an important food fish in some areas of South Asia and South East Asia. The fish of this species is very tasty to eat. Climbing fish have the ability to survive without water for long periods of time provided the site is kept moist.
