 रोमक कबूतर की कथा 

हिमालय पर्वत की कंदरा में एक रोमक नाम का कबूतर रहता था। शीलवान, गुणवान और बुद्धिमान वह कबूतर सैकड़ों कबूतरों का राजा भी था। उसी पहाड़ी के निकट ही एक सन्यासी की कुटिया भी थी। रोमक प्रायः उस सन्यासी के पास जाता और उसके प्रवचन का आनंद उठाया करता था।

एक दिन वह सन्यासी अपनी कुटिया को छोड़ किसी अन्य जगह चला गया। कुछ ही दिनों के बाद उसी कुटिया में एक पाखंडी सन्यासी के भेष में आकर रहने लगा। वह आदमी अक्सर ही पास की बस्ती में जाता और लोगों को ठगता था और उनके यहां अच्छे-अच्छे भोजन कर सुविधापूर्वक जीवन बिताता। एक बार जब वह किसी धनिक गृहस्थ के घर में मांस आदि का भक्षण कर रहा था तो उसे कबूतर का मसालेदार मांस बहुत भाया। उसने यह निश्चय किया कि क्यों ना वह अपनी कुटिया में जाकर आसपास के कबूतरों को पकड़कर वैसा ही व्यंजन बनाए।

दूसरे दिन सुबह ही वह मसाले, अंगीठ आदि की समुचित व्यवस्था कर अपने वस्त्रों के अंदर एक मजबूत डंडे को छिपाकर कबूतरों के इंतजार में कुटिया की ड्योढ़ी पर ही खड़ा हो गया। कुछ ही देर में उसने रोमक के नेतृत्व में कई कबूतरों को कुटिया के ऊपर उड़ते देखा। पुचकारते हुए वह उन्हें नीचे बुलाने का प्रलोभन देने लगा। मगर चतुर रोमक ने तभी उस कुटिया से आती हुई मसालों की खुशबू से सावधान हो, अपने मित्रों को तत्काल वहां से उड़ जाने की आज्ञा दी। कबूतरों को हाथ से निकलते देख वह क्रोधवश रोमक पर अपने डंडे को बड़ी जोर से फेंका, किंतु उसका निशाना चूक गया। वह चिल्लाया," अरे जा तू आज बच गया।"

तब रोमक ने भी चिल्ला कर उसका जवाब दिया,"अरे दुष्ट मैं तो बच गया, किंतु तू अपने कर्मों के फल भुगतने से नहीं बचेगा।अब तू तत्काल इस पवित्र कुटिया को छोड़ कहीं दूर चला जा, वरना मैं बस्ती वालों के बीच तुम्हारा सारा भेद खोल दूंगा। 

रोमक के तेजस्वी वचनों को सुन वह पाखंडी उसी क्षण अपनी कुटिया और गठरी लेकर वहां से कहीं और खिसक गया।

 There used to be a pigeon named Romak in the Kandara of the Himalayan Mountains. Urgent, intelligent and intelligent, that pigeon was also the king of hundreds of pigeons. There was also a monk's hut near the same hill. Romak often visited the monk and enjoyed his discourse.

 One day the monk left his hut and went to some other place. After a few days, he started living in the same hut under the guise of a good monk. The man often used to go to the nearby colony and cheat people and would live a convenient life by eating good food in them. Once when he was devouring meat etc. in the house of a rich householder, he liked the spicy meat of pigeon. He decided that why not go to his hut and catch the pigeons nearby and make similar dishes.

 The next day, in the morning, he made a proper arrangement of spices, brains, etc., hiding a strong pole inside his clothes, and stood on the hut of the hut waiting for pigeons. Shortly he saw several pigeons flying over the hut under the leadership of Romak. Cried out, he began to lure them down. But the wily Romak then beware of the aroma of spices coming from that hut, ordered his friends to fly away immediately. Seeing the pigeons coming out of his hand, he angrily threw his pole at Romak very loudly, but missed his target. He shouted, "Hey Ja Tu survived today."

 Then Romak also responded by shouting, "Oh wicked one, I have survived, but you will not survive the fruits of your deeds. Now you leave this holy hut and go away, or else I will be among your people." Will reveal the mystery.

 Hearing Romak's fiery words, the hypocrite immediately moved away from there with his hut and bundle.
